Vigilance Awareness Week being observed at NEC

SHILLONG, October 28 2020: North Eastern Council as a part of its effort to promote integrity and to achieve a corruption free society, observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year. This year it is to observed from October 27 to November 2 on the theme “Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat”(Vigilant India, Prosperous India.
A four day long Vigilance Sensitization programme would commence with integrity pledge on October 27 administered by Prof BK Dutta, Member, NEC and will be followed by the Seminar/Workshop for sensitization of officers and staff about the role of vigilance in the development of a nation and written quiz & Poster making competition on the theme on October 28 and 29 respectively.
The awareness week will be concluded with the Talk competition on the theme and the felicitation program for the competition winners on November 2.
Backgrounder:
The North Eastern Council is the agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region which consists of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. The North Eastern Council was constituted in 1971 by an Act of Parliament.
NEC has been instrumental in setting in motion a new economic endeavour aimed at removing the basic handicaps that stood in the way of normal development of the region and has ushered in an era of new hope in this backward area full of great potentialities. The main objective of the Council is to ensure the balanced and integrated economic development of the North Eastern parts of the country.
