AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted the significance of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election describing it as a historic occasion where the BJP aims to win all 28 seats by a substantial margin. He also claimed to have enjoyed massive support from the Janajati (indigenous) community.
Speaking at an election rally in the Kathalia-Mirza-Rajapur constituency in Gomuti district Friday, the Chief Minister lauded the joining of over 500 voters from the Tipra Motha Party into the BJP fold. The defectors included candidate Amiga Dayan Anotia.
Dr Saha criticised the previous governance of CPI(M) and regional parties, stating they have failed to meet the needs of the people at large. He asserted that under BJP rule, significant initiatives have been taken, such as awarding Padma Shui laurels to Janajati individuals and hiking social pensions at various levels.
The Chief Minister pointed to the achievements of the BJP governments at the center and the state in resolution of long-standing issues of the Bru community and insurgency menace. Important infrastructural developments were made that essentially comprised the establishment of medical and paramedical colleges alongside the setting up of 21 ERS schools in Janajati areas, he added.
Dr Saha urged voters to support the BJP to ensure continued advancement and earn righteous opportunities for their people. He framed the upcoming election not just as a vote but as a transformative historical moment for the indigenous community.
