TTAADC polls: CM charges Tipra for misleading people

By Web Desk Apr 02, 2026 85

AGARTALA: Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Dr Manik Saha criticised the Tipra Motha party for misleading the public with slogans such as Thansa (unity) and Greater Tipraland at a campaign rally for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections in Kunjaram Para in south Tripura Thursday. He accused the regional party of exploiting ethnic sentiments to gain power and claimed that the BJP would bring genuine development for the janajati (indigenous) community if elected.

Dr Saha stressed that the BJP aims to govern the TTAADC with a commitment to real progress contrasting this with Tipra Motha's misleading claims and confusion regarding issues like the Village Committee elections.

He pointed out that the Tipra Motha is attempting to control the TTAADC similar to communist practices. Chief Minister expressed that the BJP is prepared for Village Committee elections and criticised BJP's main contender for using deceptive rhetoric regarding Thansa stating that their leader (Pradyot Kishore Manikya) lacks the necessary qualities of a true leader.

He reiterated the BJP's commitment to the inclusive development of Tripura, guided by principles of peace and unity as articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr Saha rejected any notion of a return to monarchy, asserting the importance of democracy. He claimed that the financial allocations meant for the TTAADC development lack proper accountability suggesting widespread corruption under the current leadership.

Chief Minister concluded by drawing parallels between Tipra Motha and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal underlining that both undermine democratic values and harm the common people.
