AGARTALA: The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), implemented under the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, is driving a strong wave of upward growth in Gomati District through community-led livelihood initiatives.
The district has witnessed rapid institutional expansion with the formation of 488 Producer Groups (PGs) across key sectors—236 in Livestock, 144 in Agriculture and 108 in Fishery reflecting a diversified and inclusive growth strategy.
This upward momentum is backed by robust financial support, where 349 PGs have received establishment assistance of ₹50,000 each, and 308 PGs have been provided working capital of ₹6 lakh per group. These investments are enabling PGs to move confidently from formation to enterprise development.
A major milestone in this growth journey is the activation of 211 PGs, now engaged in income-generating activities. This includes 84 Livestock PGs, 76 Fishery PGs, and 51 Agriculture PGs, highlighting a steady transition towards economic productivity.
To further strengthen community institutions, three Model Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) have been identified in Killa, Rupaichari, and Twidu RD Blocks, each receiving ₹15 lakh under CMTC funds. These federations are evolving as higher-level platforms for aggregation, market linkage, and sustainable enterprise promotion.
An inspiring example of this upward trajectory is the Arthiang Fishery Producer Group from Ompi Block, which has generated ₹13,28,800 through fish nursery development and polyculture farming—demonstrating the real impact of the project at the grassroots level.
The progressive implementation of TRESP in the district is being effectively led by Kinkar Bhowmik, District Programme Manager, who, along with dedicated teams across five RD Blocks, is steering the project towards impactful outcomes through coordinated planning, field-level execution and continuous capacity building.
Under the guidance of the Tribal Welfare Department, TRESP in Gomati District is clearly progressing on a high-growth path, transforming rural livelihoods and building a resilient, self-sustaining community economy.
