Tripura government computerising PACS, taking to Panchayats
CM said development of cooperative sector will strengthen the country

AGARTALA, February 04, 2025: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has announced initiatives to strengthen Public Accounts of Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in Tripura by computerising them and establishing multi-purpose PACS at the Panchayat level. He underlined that the development of the cooperative sector will strengthen the country making it poverty-free and corruption-free.
He inaugurated a one-day state-level conference on the "Promotion and Development of Cooperatives" at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here Tuesday. The main purpose of these programmes is public awareness with a key goal of increasing knowledge about cooperatives among the people.
Dr Saha emphasised that the cooperative movement is a bloodless revolution and that if cooperative societies in rural areas are strengthened the country will advance financially. He highlighted that computerising all PACS will ensure transparency and help prevent corruption.
He also mentioned that LAMPS and PACS have been approved for LPG distribution and petrol, and diesel dealerships in Tripura.
“If LAMPS and PACS become financially strong, they will become self-reliant, helping others to become self-reliant as well,” Chief Minister opined.
The event was attended by Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Chairman of the National Cooperative Union of India and former MP Dileep Sanghani, Chief Executive of the National Cooperative Union of India Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Secretary of the Cooperative Department Tapas Roy and other public representatives and senior officials of the government.
