
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha visited the home of Manimala Debbarma, a 69-year-old Janajati woman who was killed in a wild elephant attack prompting protests from local villagers. Prior to a TTAADC election rally in Chakmaghat, Dr Saha visited Ramakrishnapur in Mungiakami Block, Khowai district, to express his condolences to the grieving family who were visibly emotional upon his arrival.
Chief Minister, "This is very unfortunate. I have come here to see the situation personally. Whatever assistance is possible from our end will be provided. As per the rules, help from the State Government will be arranged."
He conveyed his deep sorrow to the family and reassured them of the government's support during this challenging time.
As a measure of immediate relief, the family received financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) via local administration with an extra Rs 1 lakh provided by the Forest Department. The Chief Minister was joined by Dr Sambit Patra, northeast coordinator of the BJP and party's national spokesperson, and other officials during this visit.
