Tripura CM to lead the MDoNER task force on northeast region

AGARTALA, March 15, 2025: The Ministry of Development of North East Region (MDoNER) has formed a high-level Task Force with Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha as the Convener to boost investment promotion in the region. This decision was made during the 72nd Plenary of the North Eastern Council held on December 21 last year in Agartala.
The Task Force will involve the Chief Ministers of all North Eastern States, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of MDoNER, Conrad Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim as members.
The Task Force has been given a timeframe of six months to submit its report to the NEC with specific Terms of Reference that include assessing the current investment ecosystem, developing a strategic roadmap to position the North East as a preferred investment destination, identifying high-potential sectors and regions and attracting both domestic and international investments through public-private partnerships.
The notification from the MDoNER also states that the Task Force will recommend policy reforms to streamline approvals, enhance ease of doing business, and address investor concerns.
