Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India in December

PM Modi to meet him on the side-lines of the SCO in China

NATIONAL, August 29, 2025: Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India in December, international media reported Thursday. Putin will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the side-lines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin to discuss preparations for his visit.

The two leaders have been in regular contact on the phone since December 2010 marking the 15th anniversary of their special strategic partnership. Modi has visited Russia twice last year for an annual summit with Putin and to attend the BRICS Summit in Kazan.

President Putin is visiting India for the annual summit as US President Donald Trump has doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50% including 25% additional duties for India's purchase of Russian crude oil.
