New plan to supply drinking water to all 51 municipal wards

AGARTALA, August 29, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha is considering using water from the Titas River to supply drinking water to all 51 wards of the Agartala Municipal Corporation. He was speaking after inaugurating the Vivekananda Township Project at Kaman Chowmuhani, Agartala Friday and thanked the TUDA for constructing 48 earthquake-resistant flats for the lower, middle and higher-income groups.
He said the BJP-led collation government in the state has completed foundation stones worth Rs 800 crore from January to August with a focus on development. The main aim of TUDA is to build modern flats for economically weaker and middle-class people.
Another project of 216 flats costing around Rs 96 crore is underway near the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel and is expected to be completed by March next year. Dr Saha has requested the Centre to remove the cap on loan amounts for externally aided projects due to ongoing development works.
Work on preparing GIS master plans for 20 urban areas is underway and development projects worth around Rs 530 crore have been undertaken in the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalp with the help of ADB.
