NOA pays rich tribute to Archery Coach Hünezo Thisa
One of first gold medalists from Nagaland at the National Games

REGIONAL, April 19, 2025: The Nagaland Olympic Association Saturday expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of Hünezo Thisa, Archery Coach under the Department of Youth Resources & Sports and a long-serving official of the Nagaland Archery Association.
Thisa was a distinguished athlete, an accomplished coach, and a respected administrator. He earned the distinction of being one of the first gold medallists from Nagaland at the National Games, achieving this honor in 1994 in Maharashtra.
Over the years, he mentored and developed numerous athletes who represented Nagaland with distinction at national and regional levels.
In recognition of his outstanding service and achievements, he was conferred the Dr T Ao State Sports Award for Coaches.
Thisa’s unwavering commitment to the promotion of archery and sports in Nagaland has left an enduring legacy. His professionalism, dedication, and vision significantly contributed to the growth of sports in the state.
On behalf of the entire Olympic movement in Nagaland, the Association extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Hünezo Thisa. "His legacy will continue to inspire generations of athletes and sports professionals”, the association said in its tribute adding “his presence and leadership will be deeply missed by the sporting fraternity”.
