AGARTALA, July 07 2020: A hit squad of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) allegedly massacred six members of a breakaway faction in Bandarban district of Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Tuesday morning. The attack left three people injured.
The gruesome attack occurred at residence of Ratan Sen Tanchangya locality of Baghmara in Bandarban, one of three districts in CHT at around 7 am. Sources across the border said the assailants armed with automatic weapons stormed into the house when the victims were preparing their breakfast.
The gunmen immediately left the scene after spraying bullets at Ratan Sen Tanchangya and others present in the house. Security forces found six dead at the scene and they shifted three injured to a hospital.
Ratan Sen Tanchangya was topmost leader of the breakaway faction.
PCJSS and some other groups remained armed despite Bangladesh government signed a peace treaty with the former two decades ago to allow limited autonomy in the CHT, home of half a dozen indigenous communities together known as Jummas.
