Tripura CM graces central statehood day celebration

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stressed the importance of forging unity among the people to accelerate the development of Tripura during the Statehood Day celebration at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan here Wednesday. He stated that the primary aim of the celebration is to steer socio-economic growth in the state and to promote peace and harmony for continuous development. 

Dr Saha highlighted a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called for the establishment of a developed and self-reliant India by 2047 aligning state government efforts with this vision. He recounted significant historical events following the death of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya in 1947 including the formation of the Council of Regency under Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi and Tripura's accession to India in 1949.

 He pointed out that Tripura ranks second in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) among Northeastern states and has become the only digital state in India receiving 347 awards for successful developmental initiatives. 

Dr Saha highlighted the government's achievements in empowering women, with over 1 lakh members in self-help groups and 54,323 groups operational in the state. Efforts to uplift tribal communities were also mentioned. 

The event recognized six distinguished persons with the State Citizen Award and eleven with the Statehood Day Award for their exceptional contributions. Various dignitaries, including senior cabinet Ministers and officials were present to celebrate the occasion.
