Tripura and two other states get 15th FC Grants

NEW DELHI / AGARTALA: Rural local institutions in Tripura along with Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, have benefited from a substantial release of over 1,156 crore rupees under the 15th Finance Commission Grants by the central government. These grants are designed to enhance grassroots governance and cater to specific developmental requirements within the local contexts. 

In Andhra Pradesh, more than 410 crore rupees have been allocated as the second installment of Untied Grants for the current financial year, benefiting a total of 13,092 eligible Gram Panchayats, 650 eligible Block Panchayats, and all 13 eligible District Panchayats. Similarly, in Maharashtra, over 714 crore rupees have been disbursed, which will aid 26,407 eligible Gram Panchayats, 15 eligible Block Panchayats, and 2 eligible Zilla Parishads. 

In Tripura, an allocation exceeding 30 crore rupees has been designated, providing support to all 606 eligible Gram Panchayats, 35 eligible Block Panchayats, 8 eligible Zilla Parishads, 587 eligible Village Committees, 40 eligible Block Advisory Committees and the one eligible Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Headquarters. 

Approximately 85 lakh rupees of the previously withheld portion of the first installment of the Untied Grant for the financial year 2025-26 has been released to one additional eligible TTAADC Headquarters, further boosting the financial backing for local governance in the region.
