
AGARTALA: The World Bank and FAO technical team Tuesday conducted a significant visit to the Jora Agri Producer Group (PG) located in Maharanipur of Mungiakami RD Block in Khowai district, which is part of the TRESP initiative aimed at improving livelihoods.
This visit involved participation from various local officials and members of block-level organisations, such as Mungiakami BDO Avijit Kumar Das and BPM Purba Deb along with a collaboration from representatives of the World Bank and FAO including Erick Zeballos Soruco, Kamlesh Prasad, Alessandra Borrello and Shouvik Mitra.
The team assessed the implementation of project interventions and directly interacted with the PG members to gauge their participation, assess livelihood advancements and measure overall project impact. A particular focus was placed on ash gourd farming, where successful agricultural practices were highlighted through the cooperative model adopted by the group.
The visiting team commended the progress made and the strong community involvement noted during their assessment. They also provided constructive feedback aimed at enhancing sustainability, improving market linkages and increasing the effectiveness of TRESP initiatives.
