AGARTALA, July 13 2020: Rubber growers can seek information on intercropping in rubber, from Rubber Board Call Centre from 10 am to 1 pm on July 15.  Dr MD Jessy, Joint Director, Rubber Research Institute of India, will answer the queries from rubber growers.

Call Centre number is 0481 - 2576622.

Intercropping in immature rubber with pineapple, vegetables etc. will fetch additional income to rubber growers. Medicinal plants, perennial crops like cocoa, coffee, vanilla and more can also be cultivated as intercrops in rubber, as proved by research conducted by Rubber Research Institute of India in this field.

Multiple cropping and intercropping can ensure more biodiversity in plantations. These will help in improving soil moisture status during dry season and also in sustaining soil fertility.

Information about the services of the Board and also technical advice regarding cultivation, production, processing etc. of rubber can be regularly sought from the Call Centre functioning at its Head Office. The service is available from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working days.
