
REGIONAL: Violence erupted in Moava Village, Chumoukedima in Nagaland Friday involving clashes between members of the Chakroma Organisation and local villagers. The conflict stemmed from land disputes that escalated into physical confrontation resulting in significant violence characterised by stone pelting.
Reports indicate that 48 people belonging to Kuki and Naga clans sustained injuries in the clash. Substantial properties were damaged including the destruction of five houses burning of six vehicles and damage to 15 additional vehicles.
Moreover 20 private homes and 7 shops including the Moava Community Hall, were also set ablaze. During the unrest, an executive magistrate and a security officer were among those seriously injured while attempting to manage the situation.
District Administration and Security Forces promptly intervened to restore order and prevent further escalation of violence to quell tension and restore peace.
