AGARTALA: Voting for the by-election in Tripura's Dharmanagar Assembly constituency was held Thursday in a peaceful atmosphere and a noteworthy voter turnout. From the morning hours, polling booths witnessed enthusiastic participation with some centers experiencing long queues initially.

As per preliminary reports from the Election Commission, about 80% of votes were cast by pm with higher turnout rates observed in rural booths and a satisfactory presence in urban locales.

To ensure the safety of the electoral process, central security forces were stationed at all sensitive polling booths. Administrative sources indicated that there were no untoward incidents reported throughout the day.

Although minor issues with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) occurred at a few locations, these were swiftly handled, allowing voting to resume without substantial delays.

Special provisions were established to assist elderly voters and individuals with disabilities, facilitating their ability to cast votes unhindered. The participation of female voters was notably significant.

Political parties generally expressed contentment with the conduct of the voting, though a few isolated complaints have emerged and are currently under review by the Election Commission. As the evening approached, the voting process ended and iniaitves to secure the EVMs began.

The Election Commission has confirmed that the counting of votes is set to occur as planned on the scheduled date.
