By S Sharmili Feb 19, 2026 95

AGARTALA: The Department of Official Language (Brajbhasha Bibhag), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is organising an All India Official Language Conference in Agartala on February 20 focusing on the Eastern, North-Eastern and Northern regions. Union Home Minister Amit Shah accompanied by various dignitaries and officials will attend as the Chief Guest.

The Conference aims to promote the effective implementation of Hindi as the official language and to showcase exemplary efforts in this field.

A special exhibition highlighting successful initiatives in implementing the Official Language will accompany the conference. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), part of the Ministry of AYUSH, will play a significant role, offering free health check-ups and consultations led by its Director, Prof (Vaidya) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati.

This initiative includes medicine distribution and health check-ups facilitated by the Regional Research Centre for Ayurveda in Agartala with AIIA providing technical support.

Participants received a “Nityasevi Ayur Kit” for promoting daily health and Ayurveda. Nature and pulse testing camps will be available on site, enabling participants to assess their health from an Ayurvedic perspective.

During the conference, Amit Shah will launch a diabetes management book titled "Prameh Yoga Sangrah," authored by Prof (Vaidya) Rajaram Mahato, which explores Ayurvedic approaches to diabetes. Prominent physicians from AIIA, including Dean Prof (Dr) Mahesh Vyas, will also engage in public health discourse and exhibitions in Hindi at the venue.

Anshuli Arya, Secretary of the Department of Official Language, noted that the conference aligns with the Prime Minister’s 'Fit India Movement' by fostering connections between citizens and traditional Indian medical systems. Prof Prajapati emphasized AIIA's commitment not only to treatment but also to public awareness about health and Ayurveda, contributing to the promotion of the official language and a healthy India.

Overall, the conference is poised to serve as a significant platform for enhancing the promotion of the official language alongside public health awareness, integrating administrative efficiency with traditional healthcare systems.
