135 students, faculty and staff donate blood at ICFAI
AGARTALA: The Allied Health Science department of ICFAI University Tripura organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Friday in observance of World Health Day 2026. The event was inaugurated by Swami Amartya Nanda Maharaj from the Ramakrishna Mission, who served as the Chief Guest while Dr Subhashis Roy, the Deputy Director of Blood Transfusion Services of the Government of Tripura graced as the Special Guest.
The ceremony commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr A Ranganath, the Registrar of the university. Active participation came from students, faculty members and staff across various departments alongside members of the NSS Unit.
The Blood Transfusion Services and IGM Hospital Agartala managed the collected blood units. Dr Subhashis Roy underscored the pressing need for blood in Tripura, noting ICFAI University’s commitment to donating blood in times of emergency, which he praised as a significant humanitarian effort.
Swami Amartya Nanda Maharaj Ji delivered an inspiring motivational speech emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation, encouraging both donors and university students to contribute, not only for altruistic reasons but also to enhance their own personal development and qualities.
In 2023, a total of 127 blood units were donated at the university establishing a record for educational institutions in a single drive. During this year's event, 135 students, faculty and staff donated blood setting a new benchmark intended to inspire even more donations in the future.
The Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Biplab Halder expressed his deep gratitude to all participants for their passionate commitment to this noble and life-saving cause, concluded by a Vote of Thanks from Dr Rajiv Kumar Mandal, Principal of the Allied Health Science department.
