Tripura schools, colleges likely to open on June 1

AGARTALA, May 23 2020: Tripura government is contemplating to start educational institutions from June 1 to end almost two and half month long closure owing to Covid-19 health menace.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath who is also spokesperson of state cabinet said Saturday that the proposal (on reopening) has been under consideration though a final decision is awaited.
Speaking to newsmen he said that opening colleges and schools involved so many preparations as to comply with precautionary advisories like social distancing.
On monetary involvement, he said the education department will have to spend an estimated amount of Rs 1.62 crore to distribute soap, sanitizer, face mask and gloves in the schools.
He added that mid-day-meal preparation and distribution has to be done in an utter hygienic manner.
The state has total 4509 schools including that of government and aided schools as well as Madrassas (181).
