AGARTALA: Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Dr Manik Saha criticised Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya indirectly, asserting that leaders who only speak Hindi and focus on "Thansa" (meaning unity) are actually threatening Tripura's interests.
Speaking at an event welcoming 1,336 families to the BJP here Sunday, he underscored the importance of using the local tribal dialect Kokborok and highlighted the significance of language competence for effective leadership. Dr. Saha expressed skepticism towards those who claim to represent tribal interests while being disconnected from their language and culture.
He accused political rivals of hypocrisy, pointing out their contradictory statements regarding their aspirations for chief ministership and their calls for representation from the tribal community. Saha firmly stated that the BJP is committed to the development of the Janajati people citing the inclusion of Janajati members in key governmental positions.
He further insisted that any constructive dialogue should not be accompanied by hostility towards BJP supporters.
The Chief Minister's remarks conveyed a sense of pride in the BJP's governance and its alignment with the interests of the state's diverse communities, condemning any attempts to provoke communal tensions or undermine the party's credibility.
