Town Hall to get name after Shyama Prasad Mukherjee
Chief Minister also announced two official awards for achievers

AGARTALA, July 06, 2025: In commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced two awards in his honor and the renaming of Agartala Town Hall after him. The Education Department will award the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Award to those who have made special contributions in their respective workplaces on Teachers' Day.
The Information and Cultural Affairs Department will award the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Excellence Award to those who have made special contributions in social, political, national service and administrative work. A marble statue of Dr Mukherjee will be erected, the Chief Minister said while gracing the central observance of the birth anniversary programme here Sunday.
Saha stated that Dr. Mukherjee's thoughts, principles and ideals are still relevant and the country and the state are moving forward by following the idea of building a state through social change as envisioned by Dr Mukherjee for Akhand Bharat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards self-reliance in the direction indicated by Dr Mukherjee, strengthening the economic base, carrying out various social reforms and abolishing the practice of triple talaq for women in Muslim society, he commented.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government has given priority to reaching the benefits of government schemes to the last person in society and good governance activities have been carried out in every household of the state.
