Two women drug peddlers nabbed in a raid, brown sugar seized

AGARTALA, July 28, 2025: Two women drug peddlers identified as Sakhina Begum and Jasmine Akhtar were arrested by East Agartala police station in a raid at Bankumari locality Monday. The women, who live in Bishalgarh and Madhupur, were involved in selling drug substances at an auto stand.
The brown sugar, estimated to be valued at Rs 10 to 15 lakh was seized during the raid. The women were initially selling drugs in a railway station area before being arrested.
The accused women will be produced in court on Monday. The arrests highlight the increasing trend of women being hired to act as peddlers as they are less likely to be caught in the drug trade, police said.
