RBI kicks off its inaugural Financial Literacy Week
To focus financial empowerment for women's economic independence

REGIONAL, February 24, 2025: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kicked off its inaugural Financial Literacy Week (FLW) 2025 in Shillong to be held from February 24-28. The event, titled "Financial Literacy: Women's Prosperity," aimed to focus the importance of financial empowerment for women's economic independence and prosperity.
The event was attended by prominent figures like Idashisha Nongrang, DGP, Meghalaya Police and Ramakrishna Chitturi, Additional Secretary, Finance Department, Meghalaya.
The event highlighted the need for financial services like basic insurance, pension products and savings accounts as well as the role of Self Help Groups in empowering women. The RBI has also organised competitions to make financial literacy more accessible to the younger generation.
