Rape victim minor dies days after fighting for her life

NATIONAL, December 23, 2024: An 11-year-old girl from Gujarat's Bharuch district died at a government hospital in Vadodara Monday after being kidnapped and raped. She had been fighting for her life for a week, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

The assault had caused serious internal damage and she was initially treated at a civil hospital in Ankleshwar before being transferred to SSG Hospital in Vadodara. Inopportunely, her condition worsened due to sepsis, which led to organ failure and cardiac arrests. 

The incident occurred on December 16, when the single rapist abducted her while she was playing near her home. He then raped her and fled the scene.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man who lived nearby and worked with the victim's father, was arrested the following day.
