PM Modi addresses the Parliament of Republic of Ghana in Accra

GLOBAL, July 03, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday addressed the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana in Accra highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. He referred to India as the mother of democracy asserting the importance of openness and dialogue in a democratic setup.
Modi praised Ghana for its commitment to democracy, dignity and resilience, calling it a "beacon of inspiration" for the African continent.
During his visit, he was conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana, the country's highest civilian honour. Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Ghana on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians and thanked Ghana's President for the honour.
India and Ghana exchanged four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering Culture, Standards, Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine, and the establishment of a Joint Commission Mechanism to enhance engagement between the two countries' Foreign Ministries. India offered cooperation in the development of a vaccine hub in Ghana for the West African region, digital public infrastructure and skill development.
Modi described his talks with President Mahama as extremely fruitful. His visit to Ghana signals India's deepening engagement with Africa and the Global South, with a formal framework for joint projects in infrastructure, agriculture and digital services.
