India and Maldives sign six MoUs to boost bilateral cooperation

GLOBAL, July 26, 2025: The Department of Fisheries in India and the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources in the Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture.
This agreement is one of six signed during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the Maldives on July 25 and 26.
The partnership aims to promote sustainable tuna and deep-sea fisheries, improve aquaculture, enhance fisheries-based eco-tourism and encourage research. Key areas include value chain development, mariculture advancement and training programs in various fields.
The Maldives will also improve its fish processing and aquaculture capabilities. This cooperation aims to create a more resilient and sustainable fisheries future for both countries.
