PM holds bilateral Meetings on sidelines of G7 Summit in Italy

NATIONAL, June 14, 2024: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held bilateral meetings at the G7 Summit in Italy Friday. They discussed strengthening their partnership in areas such as defence, nuclear, space, education, climate action, digital public infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity and culture.
The leaders agreed to intensify strategic defense cooperation, with a focus on 'Make in India'. They also agreed to expand cooperation in AI, critical technologies, energy, and sports, working closely in the context of the AI Summit and United Nations Oceans Conference in France next year. They emphasised the importance of a strong and trusted Strategic Partnership between India and France for a stable and prosperous global order.
Modi extended his best wishes to Macron for the upcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also met with UK counterpart Rishi Sunak and reiterated his commitment to strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government.
They discussed further cementing ties in the defence sector. Modi also held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reviewing bilateral relationships and discussing the situation in Ukraine.
