Tripura Panchayat polls: Final voter list published Monday

AGARTALA, June 24, 2024: The Tripura State Election Commission released the final voter list Monday for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections, which are expected to take place in early August. The final voter electoral roll has been published, with a total of 12,94,060 voters, including 6,35,460 women.
These elections will be held in eight Zilla Parishads, 35 Nagar Panchayats, and 591 Gram Panchayats, although the dates have not yet been announced. It is important to note that the tribal autonomous district council has its own set of rural bodies under the sixth schedule of the constitution.
The state election commissioner Saradindu Chaudhuri has stated that they are fully prepared for the polls and expects the dates to be announced in the first week of July. Ruling BJP and opposition parties, mainly the CPI(M) and Congress, have expressed their willingness to participate in the elections.
