NATIONAL, June 24, 2024: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying
is set to host a workshop on June 25, 2024, in New Delhi to strategize and empower States and Union Territories for the upcoming 21st Livestock Census. The workshop will focus on equipping officers with necessary tools, including a mobile app and software, to efficiently conduct the census.
Participants will be trained on data collation strategies and familiarized with various registered breeds. The Livestock Census, conducted every five years since 1919, is a vital exercise in the Animal Husbandry sector. The 21st Livestock Census, scheduled for September to December 2024, will incorporate mobile technology for data collection and transmission, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the process across all villages and urban wards in India.
The workshop will begin with an inaugural ceremony, followed by detailed sessions on Census methodology, training on the mobile application and software dashboard, and an open house discussion to address queries and concerns from participants. Key attendees include Alka Upadhyay, Secretary, DAHD, senior officers, Principal Secretaries/Secretaries from States and Union Territories, members of the Technical Committee for the 21st Livestock Census, and the Registrar General of India.
