AGARTALA, October 04, 2024: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has criticised the CPI(M) and Congress for suppressing democratic rights and silencing voices during their 35-year rule in Tripura. He attended a protest rally organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday in Agartala where he accused the opposition of spreading false and fabricated information to incite people.
Saha asserted that the opposition is conspiring against the state government and that the CPI(M) and Congress are synonymous with deceit and conspiracy. He also cited the constant violence, intimidation and harassment faced by supporters of opposition parties during the 35-year rule of the Left-Congress alliance.
Saha warned them to stop spreading lies or face consequences, as the BJP has been successful in every election and has the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asserted that the people no longer trust the CPI(M) and Congress, as evidenced by the election results.
The event was attended by several leaders including BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, and BJP General Secretaries Amit Rakshit and Bipin Debbarma.
