AGARTALA, June 30 2020: Tripura government Tuesday adopted two stringent decisions to tackle spread of coronavirus in the state. It has doubled the fine amount for not wearing mask in public and declared complete lockdown on July 5 which is attributed as initiation for more harsh measures.
Till Tuesday the state counted 1395 coronavirus positive cases.
The government however eased night curfew by setting new timeline. Henceforth curfew will remain in force from 10 pm to 5 am from earlier 9 pm to 5 am.
State government has amended its May 4 2020 order under provisions of ‘The Tripura Epidemic Disease, Covid-19 Regulations 2020’ to impose more fine to offenders of non compliance of compulsory mask wearing. The original order made wearing faces masks mandatory and fine imposed was Rs 100 in first violation and Rs 200 for consequent violations.
The amended order Tuesday expressed concern that a large number of people are not wearing masks despite making it compulsory. It said henceforth whoever commits an offence by not wearing face mask would be fined Rs 200 and Rs 400 for successive non-compliances.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb made several appeals to people at large to cover their faces with cotton towel or scarf if they do not have medically prescribed mask.
