REGIONAL, April 11, 2024: In an effort to promote electoral literacy and engage first-time voters, the Electoral Literacy Club at Kohima College Kohima, in partnership with the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Office Kohima, organised a one-day Voter Awareness and Sensitization Programme at the college.

The programme aimed to equip first-time voters with essential knowledge about the electoral process, their rights, responsibilities and the significance of their participation in the democratic process. With an interactive approach, the initiative sought to bridge the gap in electoral understanding among the youth.

EAC Kohima and Nodal Officer for SVEEP, Limakumla Pongener, applauded the collaborative effort and stressed the significance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of informed citizenship. She emphasised the importance of youth participation in the electoral process, stating that empowering first-time voters with adequate knowledge and awareness is crucial in nurturing a vibrant democracy.

The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members alike, with Associate Professor Dr Visiezolie Yashü chairing the program. Principal KCK, Dr Vitsosie Vüprü, delivered the welcome address, and Campus Ambassador Kikhosou Rume expressed words of gratitude.
