Learning classes on radio for students during lockdown

SHILLONG, May 26 2020: Students no more have to spend money to add internet data in their smart phones. Thanks to Radio Mirchi Shillong for coming out with the idea of teaching through radio – an unique but very encouraging indeed.
Various educational institutions are closed since March 17 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and students are facing great difficulty trying to keep up with e-learning from home. They are constantly spending money topping up their data packs or exhausting their data packs with just one online class.
This has been a huge disadvantage to students residing in areas with low or no internet connectivity, as they have not able to take part in these online classes.
In a bid to bridge this gap and include them in the continuing education process, 91.1 Radio Mirchi Shillong in collaboration with Prof Joshua Rynjah, an Assistant Professor of the English Department Saint Mary's College Shillong, is conducting radio classes called 'Lockdown Literature' on-air.
These classes will benefit all 4th semester under-graduate students enrolled in Bachelor of Arts in various colleges of the state under North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). 91.1 Radio Mirchi has started broadcasting 'Lockdown Literature' since May 25 in the morning show with RJ Gordon from 11 am to 12 pm, Monday to Saturday, and will continue initially for a period of 15 days.
