AGARTALA, December 10, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha laid importance on strengthening human rights through the four pillars of democracy: Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and Media.
Speaking at the International Human Rights Day event organised by the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) in Agartala Wednesday, the Chief Minister reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to protecting citizens' rights and expressed the government's sensitivity towards justice, dignity and equal opportunities for all.
Dr Saha argued that human rights are inherently linked to common sense and legal frameworks, stressing that any violation of rights is a violation of the law. He highlighted the need for a coordinated effort between the government and the THRC especially in instances where journalists face attacks.
The Chief Minister also remarked on the significant development in the Northeast under PM Modi's leadership, noting improvements in various sectors including communication and the internet. He concluded that maintaining human rights is contingent upon upholding law and order urging a collective responsibility towards this goal.
