REGIONAL, November 25, 2024: The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) is set to launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) at Agartala ICP on November 26. The LPMS, which operates three state-of-the-art land ports in Tripura, bordering Bangladesh, is designed to enhance cross-border trade and connectivity.
The Agartala land port, inaugurated in 2013, is a critical hub for export-import and transit activities, making it the second-busiest trade conduit between India and Bangladesh. The LPMS will digitize port operations, enabling functionalities such as slot booking, integrated payments, streamlined regulatory approvals, and automation of port operations.
This innovative system is expected to reduce logistics costs, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure security and compliance at India's land ports. The LPMS will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, fostering regional connectivity and cooperation, and positioning India's land ports as strategic gateways for trade and connectivity with the South Asian region.
Meanwhile the LPAI is organising a conference titled "Building Bridges: Trade and Connectivity through Land Port Sabroom" on November 26 at the newly inaugurated Land Port Sabroom in Tripura. The conference will also feature the release of key publications, including the LPAI History Book and the LPAI Coffee Table Book.
The port, located in the southernmost part of Tripura, holds immense strategic importance due to its proximity to various modes of intra- and inter-regional connectivity.
