NATIONAL, November 25, 2024: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) of the union government has Monday approved the PAN 2.0 Project of the Income Tax Department that will cost Rs 1,435 crore. The project will upgrade the existing system, create a unified portal and implement robust cyber-security measures.
The existing Permanent Account Number will remain the same. The PAN 2.0 Project aims to re-engineer taxpayer registration services through technology-driven transformation of PAN/TAN services, enhancing the digital experience for taxpayers.
This upgrade consolidates core and non-core PAN and TAN activities and PAN validation services. The project aligns with the government's Digital India vision enabling PAN as a Common Identifier for all digital systems of government agencies.
