Meeting fostered discussions on welfare initiatives, best practices

REGIONAL, April 28, 2025: The Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly under the Chairmanship of Lahkmen Rymbui, MLA (Amlarem) hosted a meeting with the Sister Committee from the Kerala Legislative Assembly at the Annexe Hall, Rilbong, Shillong, Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Lahkmen Rymbui and was attended by members of the Meghalaya Committee including Rupa M Marak (MLA, Dadenggre) and Gabriel Wahlang (MLA, Nongstoin). Also present were officials from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat: Shri Malthus S. Sangma, Secretary; R Nongsteng, Under Secretary and L Mynsong, Committee Officer.
The Kerala delegation was led by Acting Chair A Prabhakaran and included members Kurukkoli Moideen (MLA, Tirur), KK Ramachandran (MLA, Puthukkad), G Stephen (MLA, Aruvikkara), TJ Vinod (MLA, Ernakulam) and K Babu (MLA, Thripunithura).
Officials accompanying the Kerala delegation included Nanda Kumar R, Under Secretary; Anil Kumar GK, Assistant Section Officer; Sandhya S Nair, Assembly Attendant and Asha Karunakaran, Reporter Grade-I, from the Kerala Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The meeting fostered discussions on welfare initiatives, best practices and opportunities for collaboration between the two State Legislatures in the area of welfare for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes.
