DG highlighted need for rapid adaptation to digital media
2nd Annual North East Zonal Conference of PIB and CBC commenced

REGIONAL, August 25, 2025: The 2nd Annual North East Zonal Conference of Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) got underway at Shillong Monday. The conference aims to build capacity, promote synergy among field units and ensure that communication strategies in the North East are more impactful, technology-driven and locally relevant.
The conference saw active participation from officials from all North Eastern states, including Directors, Field Publicity Officers, Field Publicity Assistants, Accounts and Administrative staff. The Chief Guest Kanchan Prasad, DG, highlighted the importance of the North East region in the national communication framework and the need for rapid adaptation to digital media.
She stressed the significance of resource optimisation and strong coordination between headquarters, regional offices and field units. The conference also included technical sessions on the activities carried out so far and plans for the future as well as deliberations on challenges faced by field offices and probable solutions.
Harshit Narang, Deputy Director, CBC (HQ), discussed the options of advertisements available under CBC in the digital media space, emphasising the importance of digital advertising for precise targeting and measurable impact. The day concluded with a cultural performance by the Song & Drama Division troupe.
