AGARTALA, September 7, 2017: One of three diesel multiple unit (DMU) train has arrived at Agartala station ahead of formal launching. Tripura is first state to get the commuter friendly train in northeast India.
Officials in Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) informed that the service is set to launch on September 1. Three DMU trains will operate from Agartala, Belonia and Sabroom stations.
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal earlier informed Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb over sanction of these small sized trains which are gaining popularity across the world.
Interestingly a DMU train does not require separate locomotive as the engines are incorporated into one or more of the carriages.
