CM: Plans for 219 cooperative societies and 741 PACS in Tripura
Goal to increase per capita income and GSDP through healthy competition

AGARTALA, December 23, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has announced plans to establish 219 cooperative societies and 741 multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in Tripura. The state government's goal is to increase per capita income and GSDP through healthy competition among the Northeastern states.
Dr Saha made the remarks at the Cooperative Conference, which was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan here Sunday.
He said GSDP has seen a significant increase from Rs 1.54 lakh in 2023 to Rs 1.77 lakh in 2024. He expressed his gratitude to PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for establishing the Cooperation Department post-independence, which he believes will help fulfill the dream of a "Vikshit Bharat."
Some of the initiatives include creating at least one PACS for milk and fish societies in every Gram Panchayat and Village Committee, establishing 741 multipurpose PACS in Tripura and providing computers for LAMPS and PACS. The government is also considering forming multistate cooperative societies for seed and fertilizer export and providing income tax exemptions for cooperative societies, Chief Minister opined.
