AGARTALA, December 25 2021: Annual Chabimura Festival locally attributed to Chakrakma Hangrai will be held at picturesque Chabimura in Gomati district in south Tripura on January 13 and 14 next.
MLA Ranjit Das chaired a preparatory meeting held at Amarpur. Dignitaries present in the meeting included Chairperson of Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Bikash Saha, Vice Chairman of Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Sankaranda Saha, Panchai of Jamatia Hoda Padma Charan Jamatia and Purna Mohan Jamatia, SDM Bijay Sinha and officials of the concerned departments.
The meeting resolved to organise Chabimura Festival on January 13 and 14 with cultural programmes during night. The government will arrange temporary sheds, drinking water and lavatory facilities for attendees and tourists.
Exhibition cum sale stalls will be installed at the festival venue. The meeting constituted a core committee and 10 sub-committees for successful completion of the festival.
Chabimura (Chakrakma in Kokborok) is famous for its panels of rock carving on the steep mountain wall on the bank of Gomati River. Many images of Shiva, Vishnu, Kartika, Mahisasura Mardini Durga and other Gods and Goddesses are carved on the rocks.
