Introduction of solar microgrids in Janajati areas of Tripura

AGARTALA: The implementation of solar microgrids in Janajati areas of Tripura highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 'Mann Ki Baat' program signifies a transformative step toward energy accessibility, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said Sunday. Attributing to insights from the programme, he noted that the positive impact of the 'PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana' in alleviating electricity challenges faced by the Reang tribal communities. 

The introduction of solar mini-grids has enabled households to have continuous electricity, enhancing educational opportunities for children and enabling residents to charge mobile devices thereby enriching social life in villages, he stated at Mohanpur, north of Agartala.

The Minister informed that solar mini-grids have supplied 12,103 families across 347 localities with free electricity, and 2,753 families have installed solar panels benefiting from the initiative. 7,991 farmer families gained access to solar pumps, irrigating 40,000 kani of land, while 9,725 homes received power under PM Devine and 1,703 families benefited from PM Janman across 30 localities. 

He lauded Prime Minister's recognition of these projects emphasizes their role in transforming the lives of locals, turning darkness into light and fostering self-reliance. The solar initiative symbolises a hopeful future for the region, a commitment to development truly powered by renewable energy.
