BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each and LJP(RV) in 29 seats

NATIONAL, October 12, 2025: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Sunday finalised seat-sharing arrangements for the Bihar Elections. BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde announced via social media that both the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will field candidates in 29 seats, and both the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha will contest 6 seats each.
This decision followed extensive discussions among NDA leaders at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi to ensure the alliance's stability amid upcoming elections.
In comparison to the 2020 Assembly elections, where the BJP contested 110 seats and JD(U) contested 115, both parties have reduced their seat allocations this time to maintain the alliance. In the 2020 elections, the BJP secured 74 seats, while the JD(U) fell to 43 seats in part due to vote fragmentation caused by Chirag Paswan’s independent campaign.
With Paswan now re-joining the NDA, the impact of his return on the alliance’s prospects will be assessed after the 2025 election results.
Conversely, the Grand Alliance is still grappling with seat-sharing disagreements. To resolve these issues, discussions are expected between RJD's Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Congress’s Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. Mukesh Sahani, president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), who is dissatisfied with the situation, has also arrived in New Delhi for talks with RJD and Congress leaders.
