AR Sentinels NE Football Tournament 2024 commences

REGIONAL, July 02, 2024: The Assam Rifles Sentinels North East Football Tournament 2024 kicked off at ARTC&S Dimapur with Major General Manish Kumar as the Chief Guest for the opening ceremony. The event commenced with a parade of teams representing various North Eastern states, followed by an oath-taking ceremony, a military band display and traditional dances performed by local artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. 

In his address to the audience Major General Manish Kumar emphasised the crucial role of sports in promoting unity and discipline among both civilians and troops. He also expressed his hope that the Sentinel tournament would serve as a platform for showcasing sports talent and strengthening the bonds between the armed forces and the civilian population.

The first match of the tournament was played between Patkai Warriors from Arunachal Pradesh and DGAR from Assam Rifles. The tournament will continue over the next few weeks, with the final match to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya.
