7th India-Bangladesh Joint Group of Customs Meeting held

SOUTH ASIA, June 28, 2024: The 7th India-Bangladesh Joint Group of Customs Meeting took place in Shillong on June 27 and 28. The meeting aimed to foster cooperation, enhance efficiency and advance shared goals in customs administration.
The four-member Bangladesh delegation was led by Md Kamruzzaman, Commissioner of the Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate in Jashore, while the ten-member Indian delegation was led by M Rahman, Commissioner of the Customs Preventive Commissionerate in NER, Shillong.
The meeting resolved many pending issues at the ground level and identified others to be escalated to higher-level forums. The Head of the Bangladesh delegation expressed gratitude to the Indian Customs for organising the meeting and ensuring productive discussions.
The meeting marked a significant milestone in bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh, highlighting their shared commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and cooperation.
