Tripura pride picked for Padma Award again

AGARTALA, January 26, 2020: For second consecutive year Tripura has received prestigious Padma Shri Award. This time it went to Benichandra Jamatia for his contribution in literature and education.

Jamatia figured in list of recipients of all categories of Padma Award on occasion of Republic Day which was announced by Rastrapati Bhavan Saturday evening.

Last year indigenous musical instrument player Thanga Darlong received Padma Award.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb congratulated Birchandra Jamatia on being awarded one of most prestigious awards of the country.

In statement Deb said: “It’s a matter of pride for the entire state and I wish him all the best for his future endeavours”.
