AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Monday criticised the current administration (led by Tipra Motha party) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for corruption, describing it as a "massive reign of loot." He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is genuinely committed to the welfare of tribal communities, urging support for the party to secure all 28 seats in the upcoming elections to achieve real development.
Addressing a public meeting and joining programme at Manubankul in south Tripura, he highlighted past efforts by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to establish a dedicated tribal affairs ministry and contended that development efforts had intensified under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Saha noted recent actions taken to favor tribal representation, like appointing a tribal as Chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), alongside a tribal woman as a member. He dismissed opposition claims as deceptive, asserting that real development in the TTAADC is contingent upon electing the BJP. H
Chief Minister mentioned possessing audit reports that reveal misconduct in the council.
He accused the CPIM of historically disrespecting the royal family of Tripura claiming their previous actions had marginally silenced the Maharajas. He stressed the BJP's role in advancing democratic values and restoring the dignity of the Maharajas citing the renaming of Agartala Airport in honor of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur as an example of their initiatives.
The public meeting included notable party figures such as BJP Pradesh General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and others.
