
REGIONAL: To maintain a peaceful atmosphere for the upcoming bye-election to the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency, the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma has taken proactive measures by issuing an order for the mandatory physical verification of all firearms and ammunition within the district.
This action is being taken under Section 21 of the Arms Act 1959. All arms license holders in the Mokokchung District are required to report to their nearest concerned Police Station and present their arms, ammunition, and license booklets for physical verification during office hours.
The deadline for compliance is March 20. To ensure strict monitoring, Officers-in-Charge of concerned police stations must submit daily reports in a prescribed format through the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.
The order read that these reports must include the serial number, license holder’s name, license number, UIN No, type and number of arms, last renewal date and count of ammunition.
