AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stressed the importance of the habit of daily reading for achieving success during the inauguration of the 44th Agartala Book Fair at the International Fair Ground in Agartala Friday. He articulated that books serve as a bridge between physical and mental aspects facilitating knowledge and understanding of the unknown.
The theme of this year's fair is "Vandemataram." Dr Saha highlighted that reading beyond school textbooks boosts vocabulary development, improves writing skills and expands thoughts and consciousness asserting that there's no shortcut to knowledge.
Chief Minister encouraged the practice of writing, which can later lead to books and noted that the Agartala Book Fair is gaining recognition nationally and internationally though attendance from Bangladesh has diminished due to current circumstances. He expressed optimism that this year's book sales would exceed those of previous years and announced adjustments to the fair's schedule to accommodate students' exam commitments.
Dr Saha advocated for reviving the tradition of gifting books during events suggesting that a book is a reliable companion that enriches lives. He urged individuals to dedicate time to reading and make it a habitual practice. The event had notable attendees, including Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul and other distinguished guests highlighting the fair's significance in promoting literacy and education.
